Mr. Don Mitchell Jackson was born to the late Mr. AL Sims and Mrs. Hattie B. Jackson Tanner on February 21, 1951. Don attended the Gadsden City School System, from Central Elementary to Carver High School where he graduated in 1970.
At an early age, he was baptized at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.M. Mallory. This is where his maternal grandparents, mother, and members of the Jackson family attended where he later joined. He was a very active member. He also visited Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church sometimes, where his Mom is a member, when his church did not meet. He would also go to Bible study until his health started to decline. His current church he attended was Holiness Gospel Church of God.
Don was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Buddie and Hattie Jackson; father, AL Sims; along with a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Sims, Jackson, and Baker families.
He was raised by his grandparents, Buddie and Hattie, to whom he referred to as Mama and Papa, along with his mother; and their bond was inseparable. .
Don enjoyed nice cars and collecting guns. He was employed for over thirty years at Tyson in Boaz/Albertville. He loved chicken from Zig Ribs, and fish from Top of the River. He always loved to eat out.
On Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024, he was called to rest by our Heavenly Father.
