Edsel Porter Brooks, 63, passed away on May 31, 2021. He was born November 30, 1957 in Gadsden, AL to the parentage of William and Maryland Craig. He grew up in Gadsden and attended Gadsden High School.
Porter enjoyed fixing and racing cars, raising dogs, playing dominoes, and being with his family. He also enjoyed helping others and showed this kindheartedness to his family and others everyday. He was a man with a very big heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maryland; brothers, Jerry Brooks, Darryl Craig, Tyrone Craig, and Darius Craig; sisters, Joyce Ann Craig and Wanda Craig.
Porter is survived by his children, TeNecha (Gabriel) Brooks-Kennon, Brandi Brooks, Altovis (LaShunda) Brewster, Jasmine Brooks, all of Gadsden, AL, and Naguata Sullivan, Lafayette, AL; grandchildren, Shaniya Sullivan, Amiya Kennon, Zykiria Brooks, Zaniyah Brooks, Telia Sullivan, Maurice Brewster, Jaylon James, Markiyah Woods, Micah Brewster, and Markiese Woods, Jr.; brothers, John Brooks, William (Angela) Craig, Gadsden, AL; sisters, Maryland Brooks, Sandra Davis, and Amanda (Fred) Tuck, Gadsden, AL; Lorraine (Kenneth) Wooley, Detroit, MI; sister-in-laws, Jana Brooks and Betty Brooks, Gadsden, AL; special friends, Judith Sandridge and Mr. John; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends.
