Brother Fred Ledford was born April 17, 1945 in St. Clair County, Pell City, AL to the late Marie L. Mays and Fred Mays. Brother Ledford departed this life on December 23, 2022.
Fred worked at Riverside Refractories for forty plus years. He also worked at Jefferson Home Furniture. He later moved to California for a period of time and later returned home.
He was known to many as "Joker". Fred often used these words when talking, "down to the point" and "the point is". In saying that, we want to say "down to the point" and "the point is" regardless to how he acted in his latter years, he measured up to his name "Joker" and we all loved him and will miss him...and we know that he is looking for a telephone.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: three sisters, Dorothy Lipscomb of Pell City, AL, Lucy Pearl Madden of Gadsden, AL, and Henri Mae Hubbard of Stone Mountain, GA; one brother, Eldred (Alfreda) Mays of Pell City, AL; two brothers-in-law, Ernest Henderson of Riverside, AL and John Walker of Gadsden, AL; one sister-in-law, Marcelene Ragland of Decatur, IL; wonderful friends, Joan Cox, Jennifer Thomas, and Tommy Sanders; and a host of super nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
