Ilander Lipscomb Obituary

Deacon Ilander Lipscomb faithfully finished his race on January 3, 2025, and rests peacefully in eternity with our Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Attalla, Alabama, on February 5, 1948, to the union of the late Earl Lee Lipscomb, Sr. and Elizabeth Culpepper Lipscomb. He was the oldest child of three. He was more than a sibling; he was our best friend; our confidant; and biggest supporter.

Lipscomb graduated from Norris High School, where he enjoyed playing in the band. He played the saxophone with a passionate and expressive soul, bringing a rich tone to every gathering. He then attended A&M College in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force.

Deacon Lipscomb was unique. He was characterized as fascinating, one-of-a-kind, entertaining, and brought joy to everyone around him. He always knew how to lighten the mood with a playful tease. His presence in life was a gift.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Attalla, Alabama, and an ordained Deacon. In addition to the church, he was a Mason and served as Associate Patron for Mims Chapter 26, Order of Eastern Star. After relocating to Franklin, TN, he united with Locus Ridge Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Brandon L. Mason.

He leaves a legacy of love, commitment, and service which his family and friends will cherish. Among those left to cherish his memory are his devoted daughter Octavia A. Rice of Atoka, TN; brother Earl Lee (Stephanie) Lipscomb, Jr. of Lebanon, TN; sister Brenda Coleman, Nashville, TN; grandchildren Devon Rice and Remone Rice of Atoka, TN; great-grandchildren Remone Rice, II and Maron Parker of TN; nieces Kanika R. Coleman, Tahirah J. Coleman and Brandy R. Lipscomb of Nashville, TN; one nephew Earl Lee Lipscomb, III; great niece Jala E. Coleman and great nephew Eric J. Counts, Jr of Nashville, TN; aunt, cousins, other relatives and faithful friends.

Mr. Lipscomb will be remembered as an awesome son to his late parents, a father and grandfather, an amazing brother, a great friend, and a generous uncle and cousin. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
