Jerome Byrd Jr. Obituary

Jerome Kesuser Byrd, Jr. was born on April 9, 1980 to Jerome K. Byrd, Sr. and Cshenavia Byrd. Affectionately known as JJ, he was an active and beloved member of the community.  Known for his infectious laugh and smile, JJ was always willing to go out of his way to help others and will forever be remembered for his kindness and generosity.

JJ graduated from Springville High School in 1999, and attended college at Jones Junior College and University of West Alabama.  JJ was an avid sports fan and was a high school standout in football, which earned him a college scholarship.  The ultimate Alabama football fan, his favorite quote is “The Only thing better than winning is winning again, Roll Tide Roll!” He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. More than anything, JJ loved and adored his children.

On January 19, 2024, JJ transitioned from the discomforts, pain, and labors of this world to be at rest with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Velma E Head, John E. Jr. Woody, Ann Marie Byrd Newsome, Helen Woody, Sammie Newsome, and Minnie B Newsome.

JJ's cherished life and memory will forever be held close by his loving family and friends. Those who remain to honor and remember him include his parents, Jerome and Cshenavia Byrd; his children, Aaliyah Byrd, Abby Byrd, Jerome K. (Tripp) Byrd III, Kolbie Byrd, and Braelon Shields; his sisters, Renee (Gregory, Sr.) Dash, and Nicole Byrd; nephews, Jordan Byrd, Malcolm Dash, Malik Dash, and Gregory Dash, Jr.; niece, Yaisa Dash; great-aunts, Estelle Long and Louise Rhone; great uncles, Richard (Joyce Ann) Byrd and Charlie (Renee) Byrd; uncles, Ronnie (Sheila) Newsome, Felton (Mary) Head, Aaron Head, John Woody, Jr., and Frank Byrd; aunts, Jacquelyn (Lesile) Jackson, Jeanette (Sylvester) Cattling, Vivian (Arthur, Sr.) Benson, Gwendolyn Woody, Sharon (Darryl) Rutledge, Angela Head, Malena Newsome, and Winifer (Shaun) Range; along with a host of cousins, family, and friends.
