Mr. Joseph "Big Joe" Bedford was born to the union of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Estella Bedford on March 24, 1959 in St. Clair County, Alabama.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Cropwell. He was educated in the St. Clair County School System and became a logger by trade.
Joseph was a carpenter by trade, he would do all sorts of carpentry work for people in the community. He loved gospel quartet singing, and you could always find him at every gospel singing event. Most of all, he loved his family and was always willing to help anytime we called on him. Our hearts are broken because we lost such a special part of us. Rest on Plunkie, until we meet again.
He departed his earthly life on Friday, July 21, 2023 at St. Vincent East, Birmingham, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Estella Bedford; his sisters, Earnestine Montgomery, Georgia Pearl Collins, Sarah Ann Bedford, and Lizzie Green; his brothers, Rev. Billy Gene Bedford, Larry Kelley, and Willie Earl Bedford.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his son, LaRoyal Fomby; six grandchildren, Jireh Swain, LaMiya Fomby, LaRiyah Fomby, Adriana Fomby, Aiden Fomby, and LaRoyal Fomby Jr.; six sisters, Lula (Lenell) Keller, Mary Bedford Gilbert, Clara Bedford, Dorothy Jean Bedford, Monica Lynn Wade, and Barbara Jean Bedford; two brothers, Jack Bedford and Stanley Bedford, all of Pell City, AL; special friends, James Ross Gover, and Boyden and Sarah Howard; eight nieces, ten nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
