Josiah Smith, 13, of Pell City, AL passed on October 28, 2021 at his home with love ones beside him. Although only 13 at the time of his death, Josiah affected many people in his lifetime.
Josiah loved the outdoors, playing basketball, and hanging out with his friends. He also enjoyed playing with his cat Maxine, and his dogs Kush and Ace. His favorite color of neon green was also represented by his favorite team the Seattle Seahawks.
Josiah was a young man of deep thought and social awareness. He stood fast with his beliefs of equality for all. He was an avid reader and maintained a 12th grade equivalent in that area. Being a young man deeply involved in culture, social, and political awareness he was proud to share the same birth day as former President Barack Obama. Josiah was committed to loyalty in friendship and the love of family and animals. His humility and conscience led him to have love and consideration for his fellow man.
Josiah was born at UAB in Birmingham and was raised in Pell City. He is the 9th of nine beloved children of Chicoal Roberts (New York) and Deondre Smith (Michigan). Besides his parents, Josiah leaves behind his sisters and brothers: Devonte Roberts (Pell CIty), Tanysha Mitchell (Birmingham), Elijah White (Pell City), Antony Hardy (Birmingham), Jahnya Wilson (Pell City), Cheyenne Smith (Birmingham), Nia Lynk (Mississippi), and Demarcus Smith (Huntsville); his grandparents, Bonnie Roberts (Pell City), Edgar Roberts (Brooklyn, NY), Wanda Simms (Birmingham), Charles Simms Sr. (Michigan), Leroy "Kelly" Strayhorne (Michigan); and a host of many aunts, uncles, cousins, loving family members, and friends.
