Luther Embry II Obituary

Luther Ward Embry II was born July 13, 1955 to the late Mr. Paul Edward Embry and Mrs. Mary Lee Embry in Ragland, Alabama. At an early age, he confessed his life to Christ at Bible Way Church COOLJC. He later joined First Baptist, Riverside, under the leadership of Pastor Bedford until the day of his passing.

Mr. Embry graduated from Ragland High School in 1976. He played football, basketball, and baseball while in school. He later joined the Army National Guard in 1979. Luther also played on two softball teams, The New Town Community team and The Shaddix Pulpwood team. This is where he earned the nicknames “BigFoot” and “Indian”. He later worked for the Heavy Duty Electrical Company in Pell City, Alabama.

Luther loved to cook and go fishing. He loved to fry fish. He loved to see people smiling. Luther would take care of everyone, especially his family. There was never a day he wasn’t smiling as well as making others smile too.

Luther Embry II gained his wings on Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Vincents East, Birmingham, AL. He is proceeded in death by his father, Paul Embry and his sister, Rosie Marie Embry.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two loving daughters,  Anette L. Embry and Sholandra L. Embry; a devoted and loving mother, Mary L. Embry; sister, Paulette Embry; two nephews, Tymell (Brittany) Embry, and Jamarcus (Cherise) Embry; seven grandchildren, Eric Embry, LaDarrian Embry, Aniyah Embry, Dometris Cooper Jr., Kelis Cooper, Brooklyn Dortch, and one grandbaby on the way; three great nephews, Kodi and Kobi Embry, and Brixton Embry; a loving and caring ex-wife, Aretta Woodruff; two special friends, Brother Johnson and Mr. Danny Porter; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
