Ricky Montford Obituary

Ricky Montford was born on September 17, 1962, in Reynolds, Georgia to Richard Mathis and the late Betty Ann Montford Upshaw.  Ricky accepted Christ at an early age. Ricky attended Walter F. George High School and graduated in 1981. He excelled academically and was a star athlete, playing his favorite sports, football, and basketball. Ricky worked as a Crane Operator for Parsec Intermodal via North Fork Southern Railway. He retired on June 30, 2020, after 30 years of dedicated and loyal employment. Ricky loved his work and was known as Momo by his coworkers. Everyone on his job respected and looked up to Ricky (Momo) and was often considered as the peacemaker at work.

Ricky was an outstanding and loving father figure. He was a mentor to many kids and young adults. Ricky set positive examples and expected nothing but the best from the children he raised, Marico Hollie, Edward James Woody, and Brianna Oliver.

Ricky was proceeded in death by his mother, Betty Ann Upshaw Montford and two brothers.

Ricky leaves a multitude of cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife of 15 ½ years, Mary Elizabeth Woody-Montford; the children he raised, Marico Jamal Hollie, Edward James Woody, and Briana Lashae Oliver; siblings, Priscilla Montford Pope, and Michael Montford; aunt, Mary Smith; uncles, Dennis Montford, Walter Montford, Willie Montford, Lorenzo Montford, and Joe Smith; grandchildren, Destiny Messiah Hollie, Omarion Christian, and Omiyah Christian; special cousin, Lawrence Williams; special friends, Bret Lawson, Anthony Glover, and Greg Clarke; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
