Rosalinda Hartley Obituary

Celebrating the Life and the Legacy of Rosalinda Hartley

A Time to be Born: Rosalinda Hartley was born on July 14, 1950 in Ragland, Alabama to the late Mr. Zed Hartley, Sr., and Mrs. Charline Genora Ball Hartley. She was the fifth child born to this union. At an early age Rosalinda accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour and was baptized at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.E. West. As a young believer she served faithfully in the Junior Choir, on the Usher Board and in Sunday School. Rosalinda also served in the youth department under Sis Bernice Turner and participated in the Summer Vacation Bible School under the leadership of Sis. Barbara Gener.

A Time for Education:
Rosalinda received her early education at New Town Jr. High School in Ragland, AL and completed her secondary education at St. Clair County Training School in Pell City, AL. She completed her highest level of education at Gadsden State Community College in Gadsden, AL, and later graduated with the highest-ranking degree in Business Administration at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL.

A Call to Serve:
Rosalinda spent most of her life serving others. When her father was diagnosed with major health problems, she was his care giver. Later, upon her mother’s long illness, she took care of her day and night. She placed her own life aside and took care of her parents. Rosalinda also had some ladies she constantly loved and was connected to: Mrs. Bessie Daniels, Mrs. Bidie Turner, and Mrs. Hazel Byers; they relied on her because she was always available to help them.

She served many years as Matron of OES McGregar #670. She was also elected as the District Matron of the OES where she served for years and remained faithful until her sight and health started failing. Through all of her health issues she tried to be independent and self-sufficient. She is known for her sewing, designer abilities, her exceptional speed in typing, and being a great writer.
After her vision worsened, she took a job in Pell City, AL where she served and didn’t have to be skilled with her eyes. She retired prior to this retirement, after 20 years of service from Siemore in Gadsden, AL.

A Time to Remember:
Rosalinda was preceded in death by her siblings, Samuel, Moses, Zeb and Charles Hartley.

A Time to Cherish Memories:
Jacqelin Hartley, David (Faye Ellen) Hartley, her favorite Aunt Margret Bowie of Spokane, WA, a special friend, Robert Ages, and a host of loving and devoted family members and friends.
We are all gratetful for her special and devoted neighbor Sis. Joretha Mitchell.
