Shirley Haynesworth Obituary

Mrs. Shirley Louise Street Haynesworth was born November 28, 1943, in Gadsden, Alabama. She was the second of four children born to the late Amos Street and the late Mrs. Everee Baker Street. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Geraldine White, and her brother, Amos Street, Jr.

At an early age, Shirley confessed Christ and united with St. John CME Church. She later became a faithful member of Southside CME Church, Birmingham, AL

She graduated from Carver High School in Gadsden, Alabama, in 1961, and later attended Gadsden State Junior College and Birmingham-Southern College.

For many years, Shirley was employed by UPS, where she broke barriers as the first female driver in the Alabama District and the first female Supervisor in Operations. She later became the owner and operator of AnHay Moving Service.

Shirley was first united in marriage to the late J.T. Hammond, Jr., with whom she was blessed with four children: Anita, Antonio DeJuan, Adreana, and Todd.

In 1979, she married Andrew Haynesworth, Jr., and through this loving union her family was further blessed with a son, Andrew Haynesworth III, and Felicia Haynesworth.

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, a beautiful life ended as God called His child home. She now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her children Anita Hammond Davis and Anthony Todd Hammond.
